Master Kaykhosro Pournazeri, composer and leading Tanbur player

Master Kaykhosro Pournazeri, composer and leading Tanbur player, will perform in three parts on July 20 and 21, 2016 at Tehran Vahdat hall. We will hear Tanbur improvisation and also a number of his compositions.

Kaykhosro Pournazeri, who is going on stage after three years, is coming back with some solo-performances in the first part and he is then accompanied by his sons Sohrab and Tahmoures in a trio-performance; in the last part, Tanbour co-performers will join the group. The accompanists are Sohrab and Tahmouers Pournazeri, Hossein Rezaeinia, Sepand Dadbeh, Khorshid Dadbeh, Kaveh Gerayeli, Niknaz Mirghalam and Alireza Javadi.

Kaykhosro Pournazeri formed Shams ensemble in 1980 with the purpose of paving a novel way for the musicians in order to contemplate on Tanbur co-performance in a different manner. His profound knowledge of the instrument and the regional music of Kermanchah together with the delicate and proper employment of Daf in the orchestration have created a miscellaneous atmosphere, which have brought up new outlooks regarding Tanbur- group playing. The formation of the group resulted into his collaboration with Master Shahram Nazeri in the Album “ Sedaye Sokhan-e Eshgh” (the sound of the words of Love) and later Other Albums such as “Heirani” and “Motreb Mahtabrou”
